A kantoke is a pedestal tray used as small dining table by the thai speaking people of the sticky-rice culture. There are two types of kantoke: the Yuan kantoke, made of teak wood and predominantly used in Northern Thailand, and the Lao kantoke, made from bamboo strips and rattan woven together, and used by the people of Northest Thailand, Laos and Sibsong Pannain South China, Some Hilltribe people also adopt the Lao kantokes. Since the olden time, kantokes have been used as dining furniture in a wedding party, a funeral party, a housewarming party etc. The food served is Northern thai food and can be anything. Such as fried chicken, burmese pork curry, fried cabbage, pork tomato-chilipaste(mildly hot), fried pork sking (for diping into the paste). Two kinds fo rice are also served: sticky rice, put inside bamboo baskets, and plain rice. While eating your dinner, enjoy watching The Northern Thai Classical dances.
